The Cecil College women's volleyball team captured their tenth win of the season to improve their overall record to 10-3 and bumped up to 6-3 in conference play. The Seahawks currently land in fourth place in the NJCAA Region XX DII standings and sixth place in the MD JUCO standings, both of which have twelve total programs.

The Seahawks remain unbeaten on their home floor after sweeping six total teams thus far in the season. Last night's victory by scores of 25-14, 25-3, and 25-19 marked eighteen unbeaten sets at home, and also the fewest points scored by an opponent in a single set.

Cecil College and CCBC Essex opened up play by trading the match's first four points at 2-2, before Kendall Jackson sparked a run with 10 straight serves and helping earn nine straight points for the Seahawks, including three of her own service aces. The Knights were unable to catch up for the remainder of the first set, that ultimately ended with an additional two service aces from freshman Tori Smith.

The Seahawks carried their momentum into the second set, starting it off with a kill from Kendall Jackson, assisted by Emily Maser. Sophomore libero Kadi Davis served next for Cecil College and secured the next 14 points, including five aces, to extend her team's lead to 15-0. The Knights scored the next two points off kills but a kill and back-to-back service aces from Rebecca Holman put the second set out of reach.

In a more even third set, the Seahawks and Knights found themselves tied up until 17-17. After a few Knights' errors, kills from Danielle Mixon and Rebecca Holman and a couple of aces from Emily Maser ended the match in a sweep.

Freshman hitters Rebecca Holman and Tori Smith ended the day with nine kills each, while combining for three blocks and four aces. After the Seahawks' win, Rebecca Holman has taken over the top spot in total kills in the conference with 131. Sophomore setter Emily Maser added 16 assists, which lands her in third place in assists per set in the conference. Kadi Davis came up with 10 digs, ranking her second in total digs and fourth in digs per set, and 6 services aces.

Cecil College women's volleyball returns to action on Thursday, October 3 when they travel to face conference rival, Howard Community College. First serve between the Dragons and the Seahawks is set for 7:00 p.m. in Columbia, Maryland.
