Seahawks Take Down Camden County
BLACKWOOD - Cecil College softball grabbed a victory in Wednesday's opener, defeating Camden County 8-5.
The Seahawks produced 17 hits over seven innings. Gianna Dougherty led at the dish, striking for five hits and scoring three runs. She also earned the save from the circle, pitching a flawless final two frames.
Cecil took an early 1-0 lead, but the Cougars scored two in the second to briefly take control. The Seahawks fired back with seven runs over the next two innings while Camden scored only two. The Cougars picked up another run in the fifth, but Dougherty and Cecil's defense slammed the door on a comeback to take the contest.
The Seahawks are now 6-5 with the win.
