Rebman's Big Day Highlights Home Opener
NORTH EAST - Sophomore Briana Rebman homered three times across two contests, but Cecil fell in both ends of its doubleheader with the Southern Maryland Hawks (CSM).
The Seahawks sit at 0-4 on the season.
Game One - Southern Maryland 12, Cecil 3
CSM scored in every inning but the first en route to a smooth win in the opener. Gianna Dougherty, Tristan Canavan, and Briana Rebman collected six of Cecil's eight hits for the game. Rebman grabbed all of the Seahawks RBI with a double in the fourth and a two-run bomb in the sixth.
Amaia Smith (0-2) struck out two but took the loss from the circle. Natalie Cook punched out one in three innings of relief.
Game Two - Southern Maryland 8, Cecil 6
The Seahawks fell just short in the game two, stranding 10 runners on base in the closing contest. Cecil loaded the bases in the seventh with two outs, but a close play at third was awarded to the CSM defense to end the game.
Briana Rebman registered two solo shots, while Sloane Tanner topped the Seahawks with three hits. Gianna Dougherty (0-1) struck out nine Hawks and recorded two hits. Katarina Kuchera, Layla Hopkins, and Kylee Straining each chipped in one base knock.
