Seahawks Earn First Victory

NORTH EAST - Cecil softball earned a historic first win on Friday afternoon, defeating the Westmoreland Wulfpack 19-11

Cecil's victory of Westmoreland mark's the programs first win since April 28, 2018. The Seahawks 19 runs are its most since 2017, when they dropped the same amount on CCBC-Dundalk.

Game One - Cecil 19, Westmoreland 11 - Box Score

Cecil's offensive outburst was led by Iyana Jurry and Jhaydin Ledford, as the pair combined for nine RBI, six hits, and three runs. Jurry did most of her damage on a grand slam to left in the bottom of the fourth.

Catcher April McDonald also had a strong day at the dish, chipping in two hits and two walks. Sasha Jorstad and Natalie Cook picked up one hit each.

From the circle, newcomer Delaney Stanley (1-0) earned her first collegiate victory. She struck out four batters and tossed 126 pitches.

Game Two - Westmoreland 11, Cecil 10 - Box Score

Cecil's strong offensive performance carried over into game two, but the game ended after six innings due to lack of daylight with Westmoreland leading 11-10. The Seahawks threatened to take the lead in the final frame, but a baserunning error ended the rally.

Jurry topped the Seahawks at the plate once again, collecting three RBI and three hits. Stanley picked up a two hits, including a double.

Katarina Kuchera tallied the first hit of her college career with a single in the bottom of the second.

Cecil heads to Lincoln University (Pa.) for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 30 at Noon. The Lions compete at the NCAA Division 2 level.
