LA PLATA - Cecil men's soccer kicked off its season on Tuesday evening with a resounding 6-1 victory over the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Hawks.
The Seahawks took it to CSM early and often, scoring three goals in the first half and three more in the final 45 minutes. Cecil never wavered and even scored twice late in the second half despite playing a man down due to a second yellow card.
Sophomore Izak Battle Jr. led the way with two goals and an assist, while newcomer Jannis Braun picked up a brace as well. Fellow freshman standout Bent Althoff collected two assists.
Cecil begins the year 1-0-0 (1-0-0 Region 20 D2) after today's win.
