Potomac State Pushes Past Cecil
KEYSER - Cecil College baseball dropped the first two legs of their roadtrip, falling to Potomac State in a high scoring game one before being shut out in game two.
The Seahawks are now 10-11 on the season.
Game One - Potomac State 12, Cecil 7
The Catamounts scored 12 runs on 13 hits, then held off the Seahawks late for a victory in the opener.
Cecil opened the game with three runs in the first, but Potomac State answered with a half-dozen in the same frame to grab the lead. After a quiet second, the Catamounts would outscore the Seahawks 6-3 over the next two innings.
Defense and pitching took over late, with neither team scoring until Asher Friedman's RBI single drove home Ethan Neff in the seventh. The Seahawks grounded into a double play the following at-bat to end the game.
Friedman and Justin Weaver headlined Cecil's offense with two hits each. Gio Malatesta chipped in two runs, two stolen bases, and a hit. Colin Brosh (2-2) took the loss from the mound.
Game Two - Potomac State 7, Cecil 0
Cecil's offense was limited to three hits and three walks, leading to a lopsided defeated in the closing contest.
Gio Malatesta earned two of these hits, including a double in the top of the seventh. Asher Friedman was walked in the next at-bat, but the Seahawks went down in order from there.
Chad Francis (1-1) struck out seven Catamounts but was saddled with the loss.
