Cecil Blanks Hawks
NORTH EAST - Colin Shea pitched six shutout innings, leading Cecil College baseball to an 8-0 victory over the Mohawk Valley Hawks in Wednesday's finale.
Shea (1-1) stifled the visitors, allowing just a half-dozen baserunners while striking out eight. Colin Brosh recorded three strikeouts for the final outs in the seventh.
The Seahawks scored seven of their eight runs in the first frame. Hunter Sipel doubled to drove home two runs to begin the rally. Franco Riposo homered two batters two drive home Sipel and double up Cecil's advantage. Ben Campbell, Brendan Aiken, and Chris Woods all drove in one run each before the inning was over. Sipel returned in the third and brought home Jimmy Garrett for Cecil's final run of the game.
After the win, Cecil is now 9-8 for the season.
