NORTH EAST - A pair of home runs from Justin Weaver boosted Cecil College baseball to an 11-5 victory over the Mohawk Valley Hawks on Wednesday afternoon.
Weaver finished the day 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. The sophomore's first long ball came as a solo shot to put the Seahawks within a run of tying the game in the third. Weaver's second of the day, a three-run blast to left, put Cecil ahead in the bottom of the fourth.
After a few rough frames to start the game, Cecil's pitching staff dominated the late innings. Chris Woods, Matt Murdock (1-0), and Hunter Sipel kept Mohawk Valley scoreless and allowed just one hit over the final 3 2/3.
Cecil moves back to .500 (9-9) with the win.
