Seahawks Sneak Past Westmoreland
YOUNGWOOD - Cecil baseball snapped its five-game losing streak on Saturday with a 5-3 victory over the Westmoreland Wolfpack.
John Smith tossed a completed game to claim his second win of the season. The freshman lefty struck out eight batters.
After going down 3-1 in the third, Hunter Sipel put the Seahawks back level with a two-run blast. A Westmoreland error and Kevin Gamber's RBI-single in the fifth put Cecil ahead by two. Smith clamped down over the next two frames and put the Wolfpack down in order.
Westmoreland rallied in the seventh, putting two batters on with two outs. Smith stepped up one final time with his final strikeout of the game to retire the side.
