Seahawks Halted by Anne Arundel

NORTH EAST - Cecil baseball dropped two contests to the Anne Arundel Riverhawks on Sunday.

Game One - Anne Arundel 5, Cecil 2 - Box Score

Anne Arundel scored three runs in the seventh inning, then held off the Seahawks for a game one victory.

Cecil starter John Smith pitched well in defeat, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven batters over as many innings.

The Seahawks got on the board first after an error scored Couper Stala. Both offenses went quiet until the fourth, where the Riverhawks took a 2-1 lead in the top of inning. Justin Weaver's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame tied the game at 2-2.

Neither team would score in the fifth or sixth innings. Smith (1-7) gave up a hit to start the second, then hit the next batter to put two on with no outs. After sitting down the following hitter via flyout, Smith would give up a three-run home run to put Anne Arundel ahead.

The Seahawks then went down in order in seventh to end the game.

Game Two - Anne Arundel 9, Cecil 1 - Box Score

Anne Arundel and Cecil combined to use nine pitchers in game two. Matt Murdock (0-3) started the game for the Seahawks and took the loss. Austin Keefer struck out three in three innings of relief.
