Frederick Flusters Seahawks

FREDERICK - Cecil baseball challenged the defending Region 20 Division II champion Frederick Tuesday afternoon. The Seahawks could not overcome their offensive woes and suffered defeat in both sides of doubleheader.

Cecil falls to 8-20 on the year.

Game One - Frederick 8, Cecil 4 - Box Score

After two scoreless frames to start the game, the Cougars got on the board first with a wild pitch in the third. Back-to-back RBI knocks made it 3-0 Frederick before the inning expired.

The Seahawks plated two runs in the fourth and fifth, but the Cougars edged them with five. Cecil put one runner into scoring position over the final two innings, but the Cougars clamped down and walked away unscathed for the win.

Kevin Gamber headlined Cecil's offense with two hits. Hunter Sipel and Justin Cordero both doubled. John Smith (1-6) was saddled with the loss from the bump.

Game Two - Frederick 7, Cecil 1 - Box Score

Things could not have gone much worse for the Seahawks in the opening moments of game two, as they allowed Frederick to score seven runs on three hits, three walks, and two errors.

Cecil's offense did almost nothing at the plate, striking out 15 times. Hunter Sipel recorded Cecil's lone RBI on a single in the third.

Colin Brosh (1-2) took the loss on the mound, while Ashtin Keith pitched a flawless 1 1/3 innings of relief to end the game.
