Maser Named MD JUCO Player of the Month

As voted by a committee of Sports Information Directors around the conference, Cecil College freshman setter Emily Maser, was named the MD JUCO Volleyball Player of the Month for her outstanding performance during the month of October.

As a first-year player, Maser made an immediate impact on the volleyball team and helped the Seahawks to a 13-6 overall record (8-2 in MD JUCO), a second-place finish in the conference standings, and another NJCAA Region XX DII Tournament appearance. Cecil College volleyball ended their season with a quarter final loss to the Hawks of Hagerstown Community College in the region tournament.

In the eight matches played by the Seahawks during the month of October, Maser recorded 128 assists for an average of 16 assists per match, including a career high 33 assists in a single performance at CCBC Essex. She recorded double-digit assists in all the Seahawks' October matches. Maser was a contributing factor to the Seahawks leading NJCAA Division II in service aces per set with 3.76, as she tallied 20 of her team-leading 58 service aces in October.

In addition to being named Student-Athlete of the Month, Maser finished her freshman campaign with 299 career assists, marking her seventh in the conference during regular season play. Maser also added 66 kills on 150 total attempts and 10 blocks in her first year as a Seahawk.
