Cecil Tops Carroll to Begin 2023 Season

HAMPSTEAD, Md. - The Seahawks made history in their first match of the year, facing off with Carroll Community College for its first volleyball match in program history.

Cecil played spoiler on the evening, taking down the Lynx 3-1 in their home gym. The Lynx fell just short in the first (25-23) and even took the second set off the Seahawks. However, a dominant perfomance in set three pulled Cecil ahead. Carroll eventually dropped the fourth by the same scoreline from set one.

Three freshman starred on offensive for the Seahawks, led by outside hitter Katarina Kuchera's 13 kills. Fellow newbies Camryn Anzalone (10 kills) and Rachel Mullins (9 kills) slotted in behind her.

A pair of returns headlined the other portions of the box score. Sophomore setter Skylar Klingler topped Cecil with 24 assists, while Mullins also chiipped in 14 helpers. On defense, second-year standout Lily Landis picked up 18 digs to lead all Seahawks.

Cecil moves to 1-0 (1-0 Region 20) with the victory.
