Seahawks Drop Thriller to Allegany

NORTH EAST, Md. - The Cecil volleyball team dropped a five-set classic to the Allegany Trojans at home Tuesday evening.

The Seahawks dropped the the opening set to the Trojans after battling into extra points. Cecil had set point at 24-23, but a kill by Allegany on the following play negated it. The two teams proceeded to trade set points until Allegany claimed the first game on an attacking error by Cecil and an ace.

The next three sets were all won via 25-23 scoreline. Cecil took sets two after holding off a late Allegany run, but Allegany bounced back and captured set three. The Seahaws trailed 20-16 in set four, but battled back to win nine of the final 12 points in the set to tie the match at two sets each.

Cecil got off to a hot start in set five, taking a 9-4 lead before Allegany called for a timeout. The two teams traded points out of the break, but a rotation error by Cecil prior to the next point haulted the Seahawks momentum. Allegany would take 10 of the last 11 points of the contest to seal Cecil's defeat.

When the dust settled, Lydia Davis led the Seahawks with 13 kills. Amanda Wagner finished with seven kills and six aces. The duo, along with Lily Landis, recorded over 20 digs each.
