Hagerstown Hands Cecil A 3-0 Loss in Season Debut

The Cecil College women's volleyball team opened their season Tuesday against Hagerstown Community College. The Hawks defeated the Seahawks in three sets to hand Cecil College their first loss of the season.

Cecil College was defeated by Hagerstown Community College in three sets by scores of 7-25, 14-25, and 11-25. The Seahawks played each set tough but were outhit by the duo of Payton Downie and Anniya Grantham. The two combined for 11 of the 22 kills for the Hawks in the match compared to the Seahawks' 4 kills. Freshman hitter Rachel Cohen led the way in kills for Cecil College tallying 5 kills in the loss. Freshman Amanda Wagner tallied a team high 12 digs for the Seahawks.

Freshman Mia Ayers and Natalie Diamond also added kills for Cecil College. Sophomore Emily Falko finished the match with 7 digs and 1 ace.

The Seahawks look to bounce back with a win in their next match when they take on the Hawks of College of Southern Maryland on Friday, September 3 at 6 p.m.
