Holman and Maser Set Career-Highs in Important Victory Over Potomac State

Cecil College women's volleyball picked up an important road win over NJCAA Region XX DII rival, Potomac State College of West Virginia or Friday, October 18. This win improved their overall record to 14-4 overall, 7-3 against region division opponents, and remained at 7-4 in conference play. The Seahawks were able to jump ahead of Potomac State in the region division standings to currently occupy the fifth spot out of twelve programs.

Cecil College was able to defeat the Catamounts of Potomac State in their first five-set match of the season by scores of 25-18, 24-26, 19-25, 25-23, and 15-9. Two members of the Seahawks' squad had momentous performances including freshman hitter Rebecca Holman setting a new career-high with 22 kills on 42 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .476. She also talled 12 digs, four blocks and one service ace. Holman leads the team with 196 kills and 33 blocks on the season. Sophomore setter Emily Maser tied her career-high of 33 assists while also adding 18 digs, five kills, five service aces, and and two blocks. Maser has been a constant force for the Seahawks' offense as she surpassed 400 kills this season and currently leads the team with 51 service aces.

Freshman hitter Tori Smith completed nine kills followed by Jaycie Coates with seven kills and Daniella Mixon with three. Sophomore libero Kadi Davis had a strong defensive match tallying 28 digs and freshman defensive specialist Emily Falko added 10 more.

With another region division match coming up on Tuesday, October 22 and Northern Viriginia Community College, the Seahawks have the opportunity to surpass NOVA and Frederick Community College to occupy the third place before heading into the Region XX DII tournament on November 1-3.
