Seahawks Pick Up Second Sweep in Two Games As They Head Into Conference Play

Cecil College women's volleyball picked up another 3-0 victory, marking their second of the season in two games, over Harcum College on Thursday, September 5. The Seahawks improved to 2-0 on the year with hopes of continuing their win streak as they head into conference play this weekend.

Freshman middle hitter Rebecca Holman led in kills for the second match in row, totalling 19 kills on 30 attempts for a kill percentage of .567, while only committing two hitting errors. She currently leads the team with 29 kills in two matches. Holman also contributed four digs, two service aces, and one assist.

Tori Smith (6) and Kadi Davis (1) were the only other Seahawks that recorded a kill in the victory. Davis added eight digs and one service ace while Smith added a solo block. Freshman Danielle Mixon fired off three service aces, giving her eight total through two matches, which is the most on the squad. 

Sophomore setter Emily Maser supplied 25 assists, the second-most in her career. Maser's career high of 33 assists came in the 2018 season in a 3-1 win over CCBC Essex.

Cecil College volleyball hosts conference and region rival College of Southern Maryland and non-conference opponent Union County College on Saturday, September 7 in a tri-match that also serves as their home opener. The Seahawks start off the day at 12:00 p.m. against the Hawks of CSM, followed by CSM vs. Union County College at 1:30 p.m., and Cecil vs. UCC Owls at 3:00 p.m. Admission is free to all contests and live stats will be available online.
