Seahawks Earn Back-to-Back MD JUCO Sweeps

Cecil College women's volleyball earned back-to-back sweeps on the road over conference rivals Anne Arundel Community and Allegany College of Maryland. The Seahawks improve to 11-5 overall and 8-2 in Maryland JUCO. Volleyball currently ranks second in conference standings behind the undefeated Raptors of Montgomery Community College.

The Seahawks completed their sweep over the Riverhawks of Anne Arundel Community College on October 12 by set scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-15. Sophomore Emily Waldridge lead in hitting for Cecil College with nine kills followed by freshman defensive specialist Kadi Davis adding a career-high 8 kills in the win. Seahawks' setters Emily Maser and Sarah Blevins combined for 23 assists while freshman Jaycie Coates added two blocks.

Four days later, the Cecil College women's volleyball team traveled to Allegany College of Maryland to earn their second sweep in a row over the Trojans by scores of 25-6, 25-3, and 25-8. This is the fewest total points allowed by an opponent so far this season.

The Seahawks squad combined for an impressive 24 kills and 31 service aces in the three-set match that lasted just over 37 minutes. Sophomore setter Sarah Blevins recorded 10 of the team's 31 aces. Kadi Davis tied her career-high with another eight kills to lead the Seahawks in hitting.

The Seahawks have two remaining regular season games before competing in the NJCAA Region XX DII tournament, as they travel to Delaware Technical Community College on Thursday, October 18 and host Community College of Beaver Country on Saturday, October 27 for "Sophomore Day" at 2:00 p.m.
