Volleyball Swept by Undefeated Raptors

Cecil College women's volleyball faced their second sweep of the season after a 3-0 loss to the undefeated Raptors of Montgomery College, who improved to 23-0. The Seahawks fell to 9-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference. Four of Cecil's five losses come from Region XX DII opponents including Northern Virginia Community College, Hagerstown Community College, Potomac State College of WVU, and Montgomery College.

The Seahawks struggled to control the high-powered hitting of the Raptors bringing in three straight losses by scores of 16-25, 19-25, and 14-25, resulting in the the lowest number of points scored by the Seahawks so far this season.

Sophomore hitter Emily Waldridge lead the Seahawks with 11 kills, despite her ten hitting errors, and also added two service aces. Madeline Eckerd, Morgan Mock, and Kadi Davis combined for Cecil's 10 additional kills. Freshman setter Emily Maser dished out 14 assists and Sarah Blevins added another six. Sophomore libero Emily Ritchie tallied nine digs in the loss to the Raptors.

Women's volleyball looks to bounce back to the winning column when they travel to Anne Arundel Community College on Friday, October 12 at 6:00 p.m.
