Seahawks Late Rally Falls Short at Harcum

Volleyball suffered their first loss of the season when their late rally fell short at Harcum College. The Seahawks lost 3-2 to the Bears by scores of 19-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-15, and 11-15.

Cecil College got out to a hot 8-1 start in the first set on Wednesday night before suffering a cold streak that cost them the first two sets of the match. The Seahawks survived by winning the third and fourth sets to force a fifth set of the day.

A lack of communication on the defensive side of the Seahawks' game allowed the Bears to snap Cecil's chance at a 3-0 start to season.

Hitting duo Emily Waldridge and Madeline Eckerd combined for 20 kills in the loss to the Bears while Morgan Mock and Emily Maser added another 10 kills. Maser assisted another 17 kills and Sarah Blevins tallied 12 assists of her own.

Sophomore libero Emily Ritchie recorded 16 digs giving her 56 digs on the season and her 430th in her career as a Seahawk.

Cecil College women's volleyball returns to action at home on Friday at 6:00 p.m. against MD JUCO rival College of Southern Maryland.
