Atkins, Barrett Duo Propels Seahawks Over Titans

Cecil College women's volleyball finalized their overall regular season record of 11-6 (9-2 in MD JUCO) after Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Titans of Community College of Beaver County. After dropping the first set, the Seahawks were propelled to victory by double-digit kills from sophomores Brittany Atkins and Kirra Barrett and scores of 19-25, 25-14, 25-21, and 25-19. At the conclusion of the regular season, the Seahawks were able to produce their best conference and overall record in recent memory, improving from last year's 10-12 overall record.

Cecil College tied their season-high team kills against the Titans with 47, thirty-five of which came from the sophomore hitting duo Atkins and Barrett. Freshman setter Sarah Blevins added her third-best career showing with 42 assists, improving her total to 565 on the year. Freshman Emily Waldridge and Morgan Mock totalled for 11 kills and five service aces to help the Seahawks to victory. Freshan libero Emily Ritchie registered 25 digs.

Cecil College volleyball prepares this week for post-season action in the Region XX Tournament held at Garrett College. The Seahawks are set to face conference rival Frederick Community College on Saturday, November 4 at 12:30 p.m.
