Volleyball Splits in Last Home Tri-Match

Cecil College women's volleyball went 1-1 on Saturday, October 21 in their last two home matches of the season against Delaware Technical Community College and Potomac State College of WVU. The Seahawks are now 11-6 overall and 9-2 in the MD JUCO conference standings, finshing their conferense season in third place out of twelve teams.

In their first match of the day, Cecil College was able to defeat Delaware Technical Community College in four sets by scores of 25-13, 23-25, 25-21, and 25-18. For the first time in her career, freshman Emily Waldridge led the Seahawks in kills with 11 and also added two service aces. Sophomore captains Brittany Atkins and Kirra Barrett combined for 18 kills, seven service aces, and eight blocks in the win. Freshman setter Sarah Blevins recorded 24 assists.

In their second match of the day, the Seahawks faced their first 3-0 loss of the season to the Catamounts from Potomac State College of WVU by scores of 16-25, 17-25, and 22-25. The Catamounts currently occupy the fourth spot in Region XX standings with an overall record of 19-5.

The Seahawks' last regular season match is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28 when Cecil College travels to Community College of Beaver County for a Region XX match up. The Seahawks are currenlty ranked ninth in the regional standings, one spot ahead of the Titans of the Community College of Beaver County.
