Seahawks Sweep Trojans in Straight Sets

The Cecil College women's volleyball team put together their first three-set sweep of the season in Tuesday's match against MD JUCO opponent Allegany College of Maryland. The Seahawks dominated early in the first set with a handful of service aces by sophomore Kirra Barrett, paving the way for a 25-6 victory. Barrett tallied six service aces against the Trojans and now leads the team with 23 through six matches.

The Seahawks controlled the remainder of the match, taking sets two and three by scores of 25-18 and 25-12. Cecil College held Allegany to just 36 points in three sets, the fewest allowed by the Seahawks yet this year.

Sophomore captain Brittany Atkins finished the match with 9 kills on 13 total attempts, giving her a .538 kill percentage, while adding six service aces. Seahawks' setter Sarah Blevins registered an additional eight service aces and 21 assists, notching her 180th career assist.

The Seahawks improved to 4-2 on the year and 4-1 in conference play. Cecil College returns to action when they travel to Harcum College on Thursday, September 21 with hopes to capturing their third straight victory.
