Seahawks Ends Winless Streak with Shut Out

Cecil College women's soccer ended their almost three-season winless streak with a shutout victory over the Cardinals of CCBC Catonsville on Tuesday. The Seahawks improve to 1-7 overall, but remain at 0-7 in MD JUCO because of Catonsville's club team status. The victory over CCBC Catonsville is the Seahawks' first since going winless in the fall of 2016 and the fall of 2017, under first year head coach Patrick Letts.

The women's soccer program put together their strongest performance of the season, with no reserves on the sideline, after holding the Cardinals to only two shots in 90 minutes, taking nine of their own, and creating six corner kick opportunities.

After a scoreless first half, freshman forward Megan O'Neal put the Seahawks on the scoreboard first off an unassisted goal in the 63rd minute of action. O'Neal leads the squad with three goals this season. Ashley Kelly followed with a goal of her own ten minutes later to put the Seahawks up 2-0 before Megan O'Neal scored her second goal of the game to secure the 3-0 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Camryn Argenziano saw two shots throughout the contest, saving them both, to record her first career victory in goal for the Seahawks.

Cecil College women's soccer will play their final contest of the regular season against the Fighting Owls of Harford Community College, a national tournament contender last year, on Thursday, October 16. Kick off is set for 4:00 p.m.
