Freshman forward Ashley Kelly scored her first career goal in the Seahawks' loss to the top team in Maryland JUCO, the Dragons of Howard Community College. The Seahawks fall to 0-3 for the year and currently sit in last place out of nine women's soccer programs in the conference.
After letting up a goal in the first minute and a half of the contest, Cecil College could not handle the force of the conference-leaders. The Dragons would score another five times before the break and went into halftime with a 6-0 advantage over the Seahawks.
The Dragons outshot the Seahawks 47-2, but freshman forward Ashley Kelly put one of those two shots in the goal for her first career goal as a Seahawk. Howard tallied three more goals in the second half for a final score of 9-1.
Sophomore Cheyenne Burchette tallied the most saves for the Seahawks with 13 during 45:00 minutes of play.
Cecil College women's soccer returns to action on Tuesday, September 25 when they take on Anne Arundel Community College at home. Kick off is set for 5:00 p.m. at Calvert Regional Park in North East, Md.
