Seahawks Routed by Dominant Harford

Cecil College women's basketball suffered a devastating 99-34 loss to the Harford Fighting Owls, who boast a 17-1 overall record and remain unbeaten in MD JUCO. The Seahawks fell to 2-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference which lands them ahead of Prince George's Community College, Garrett College, and Allegany College of Maryland in the conference standings.

The Seahawks were dominated by the Fighting Owls in all categories on Wednesday night. Harford out-rebounded Cecil 69-to-28, forced 31 turnovers compared to their own 21, blocked seven shots, tallied 26 steals, and scored 38 points of Seahawks' turnovers. The Fighting Owls headed into the halftime break with a 26 point lead and opened the half with 15 unanswered points to put the game out of reach.

Freshman guard Tynaya Segure lead the Seahawks in scoring with 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one blocked shot. Segure currently leads the squad with and average of 15.9 points per game. Freshman guard Kayla Thompson followed closely with 12 points of her own and added an additional six rebounds. Amya Mumford added seven points and eight rebounds, while Katherine Shields scored her first career basket off a made jump shot.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, January 19 when the host the Hawks of Hagerstown Community College. Tip off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
