Seahawks Earn Two Region First Team Selections

Two members of the Cecil College women's basketball team were named to the NJCAA Region XX DII All-Region teams, as voted by the women's basketball committee. Cecil College's Alexis Stubblefield and Tiana Garvin, both sophomore guards, were selected to the NJCAA Region XX DII All-Region First team after a sucessful season as Region XX Champions and a trip to Harrison, Arkansas for the National Tournament. The Seahawks finished their season with a 23-7 overall record, 7-3 in MD JUCO, undefeated against Region XX DII opponents, and the programs first trip to nationals in school history.

Alexis Stubblefield played in all 30 games this season, while starting 29 of them. She has tallied 422 points this season for a career total of 714 points as a Seahawk. Stubblefield ranked first on the team with 14.1 points per game and 3.4 assists per game. Stubblefield was recognized with awards such as an all-conference selection and Region XX DII Tournament MVP.

Tiana Garvin started 21 out of the 30 games she appeared in during the 2017-2018 season. After transferring to Cecil College, Garvin made an immediate impact on the Seahawks' offense averaging 12.8 points per game. Garvin contributed on the defensive end by leading the team with 2.2 steals per game and ranking third on the team with 7.8 rebounds per game.
