Seahawks Crack NJCAA Division II National Poll

After defeating Monroe College on Friday, February 9 and improving their overall record to 19-4, the Cecil College women's basketball team cracked the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Rankings at No. 20 for the first time this season.

The Seahawks received five points from the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball Poll Committee to break into the top twenty teams, improving from receiving votes in last week's poll. The Seahawks only defeats this season come from NJCAA Division I or III opponents, three of which are nationally ranked including No. 2 Montgomery College, No. 14 ASA College, and Harford Community College, who is currently receiving votes. Cecil College remains unbeaten in Division II as they head into postseason play.

Cecil College has experienced three different win streaks of five or more games so far this season, including currently winning their last five contests. Through twenty three games, the Seahawks are averaging an impressive 45.4% from the floor, 32.6% from beyond the arc, 47.9 rebounds per game, and 20.0 assists per game.

Women's basketball looks to maintain their nationally-ranked status as they return to action this weekend at the MD JUCO tournament, hosted by Prince George's Community College. The Seahawks will face the Cougars of Frederick Community College in the first round of the tournament on Thursday, February 15 at 12:00 p.m. at Novak Fieldhouse.
