Women's Basketball Wins Big Over Vikings

The Cecil College women's basketball team produced a huge 102-35 victory over the Vikings of Mercer County Community College on Tuesday night, extending their win streak to four games in a row. The Seahawks improve to 10-1 overall and remain 5-1 in the conference.

The Seahawks held the Vikings to the fewest points allowed throughout their eleven games this season, while also winning by their largest margin of 67 points. Six of the eight players on the Cecil College roster were able to tally points in the double-digits. Sophomore Tiana Garvin was able to get the Seahawks on the board early with a made lay up allowing her team to cruise throughout the remainder of the contest.

Cecil College headed into halftime with a 45-17 lead, off a made three-pointer by freshman Kearah Henry, assisted by Alexis Stubblefield, with 0:02 remaining on the clock. Henry finished the game with 14 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc, and added nine assists.

Tiana Garvin and Chyna Steele finished the game with double-doubles in points and rebounds, while Seahawks leading scorer Alexis Stubblefield added an additional 10 points. Seahawks leading three-point shooter Nicole Guy-Thomas drained 4 of 7 shots from beyond the arc and finished with 16 points. Sophomore guard Nyjayha Lockwood contributed a season-high nine assists while also grabbing nine rebounds and contributing 12 points.

The Seahawks return to action this weekend with the addition of four women's team to the Cecil College Basketball Holiday Classic. Cecil College will play CCBC Catonsville on Saturday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m. and ASA College, Ny. on Sunday, December 17 at 3:00 p.m. The men's portion of the Holiday Classic will take place on Friday night and preceed the women's games on Saturday afternoon.
