Seahawks Register Third Straight Conference Win

The Cecil College men's and women's basketball teams each picked up their third straight conference win against MD JUCO rival, Howard Community College, on Wednesday night. The Seahawks both registered triple-digit points to defeat the Dragons.

With their 106-54 win over Howard Community College, Cecil College women's basketball team improved to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in conference action, giving them the most wins in the conference thus far in the season. The 52-point win is currently the Seahawks largest margin of victory.

Six Seahawks tallied double-digit points, led by double-doubles from Alexis Stubblefield and sophomore Chyna Steele which included a career high 27 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Nicole Guy-Thomas added a season high 21 points while going five for six from beyond the arc. Sophomore forward Tiana Garvin collected another 21 points while adding five rebounds, three steals, and a block in the victory over Howard.

Men's basketball, led by sophomore Greg Alexander's 18 points, was able to edge out a 104-96 victory over the Dragons. Coming off their third-straight victory, Cecil College men's basketball currently occupies the second spot in conference standings, out of fifteen men's basketball programs in MD JUCO. Sophomore forward Keyon Givens recorded his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds on the day. Seahawks' reserves proved important during the victory as Jonathon Falko, Jordan Griggs, and Kamden Stubblefield combined for 42 points coming off the bench, compared to the Dragons' 17 points from non-starters.

The Cecil College men's and women's basketball teams look to extend their win streak to four games when they return home on Tuesday, December 12 to face the Vikings of Mercer County Community College in an non-conference match up. Tip offs are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
