Seahawks Defeat Owls in Conference Showdown

Cecil College women's basketball jumped out to a quick lead over the Owls of Prince George's Community College and accelerated throughout the contest to pick up their third conference win of the season. The Seahawks improve their overall record to 7-1 and currently occupy the sixth spot in MD JUCO standings, out of fifteen women's basketball programs.

From tip-off, the Seahawks surged to a 10-0 lead, holding the Owls scoreless until two and half minutes into the first quarter. Not letting up for the duration of the game, Cecil College stompted their way to their largest lead of 42 points with 3:04 left on the clock. The win is the Seahawks' third win of the season by a 40-point margin or more.

Sophomores Alexis Stubblefield and Nyjayha Lockwood led the way for the Seahawks, combining for 38 of Cecil College's 97 points. Sophomore Briana McAllister added an additional twelve points and ten rebounds.

Cecil College's reserves off the bench combined for 29 points, 14 of which came from sophomore Chyna Steele. Steele has now recorded a double-double in each of the past two contests.

Women's basketball returns to action at home on Saturday, December 2 at 1:00 p.m. to face the Lakers of Garrett College in another conference match up. Live statistics will be available at www.cecilathletics.com.
