Seahawks Win Two in Dragon Invitational

The Cecil College women's basketball team came out of the Dragon Invitational at Howard Community College with two wins over conference opponents, Chesapeake College and College of Southern Maryland. The Seahawks improve their win streak to five in a row for a perfect start to the season so far.

The Skipjacks of Chesapeake College were no contest for the Seahawks, as Cecil College came away with a 93-72 victory. In the first game of the tournament, the Seahawks were led by sophomore guards Nicole Guy-Thomas and Alexis Stubblefield, each scoring 20 points a piece. Briana McAllister added another 18 points and 10 rebounds, as she currently leads the team in rebounds per game through five starts. Coming off the bench, Chyna Steele added 16 points, three assists, and two steals to seal the Seahawks' fourth victory of the season.

The Seahawks' win over College of Southern Maryland marked their fifth victory in a row, as the team was able to net over 100 points for the first time this year. Cecil College defeated the Hawks by a final score of 110-69 for their largest win-margin thus far. Fresham guard Kearah Henry tallied a career-high 22 points, including going 3-6 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Briana McAllister also totalled 22 points, followed by Alexis Stubblefield with 18 points.

Through their first five victories, the Seahawks are currently averaging 92.4 points per game, 48.8% field goal percentage, and 37.7% from beyond the arc. The Seahawks' opponents are averaging a minuscule 51.4 points per game.

Women's basketball returns to action on Wednesday, November 15 at 5:00 p.m. as they travel to CCBC Catonsville. The Seahawks look to improve their win streak to six in a row against the Cardinals.
