Seahawks Open Season with Win Over Barons

Cecil College women's basketball jumped out to a quick lead over the Barons of Rowan College of Burlington County in their first game of the season on Tuesday, November 1. A 30-10 first quarter lead allowed the Seahawks' to cruise through the remaining three quarters and finalize an 81-61 victory. The Seahawks start their season 1-0 after the road win.

Sophomore guards Nicole Guy-Thomas and Alexis Stubblefield led the way for the Seahawks statiscally. Guy-Thomas finished the day with 18 points, including going 2-5 from behind the arc and perfect from the free throw line. Stubblefield added 17 points and four steals to secure the victory. 

Kearah Henry tallied nine pionts and three assists in her freshman campaign as a Seahawk. Sophomore transfer forward Tiana Garvin dominated the boards with 11 rebounds, including nine defensive rebounds, against the Barons.

Women's basketball returns to action at home on Tuesday, November 7 in a men's and women's double-header against Delaware Technical Community College. Tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. with the men's game to follow. The Seahawks look to improve to 2-0 to start the season.
