Student-Athlete Spotlight: Daniel Mitzel, Men's Cross Country

Learn more about Daniel Mitzel in the latest issue of Student-Athlete Spotlight. Mitzel, a native of Massey, Md. and a 2019 graduate of Kent County High School is currently in freshman runner on Cecil College's inaugural cross country team. In four meets this season, Daniel has been the top male runner from Cecil College in all but the first race. He crossed the finish line in his debut 5k with a time of 24:55 and followed up with three 8k races at 35:22, 34:35, and a personal-best 32:37 at Hood College on October 19. Mitzel's 34:35 finish at Goucher College earned him the 8th place trophy. Cross country will finish up their inaugural season at the conference and region championships at Hagerstown Community College on October 26.

What is your favorite course you are enrolled in this semester & why?

My favorite course is World History with Professor Kelleher because I think everything we've learned is very interesting.

What is your favorite pump-up song or music?

"All I Do Is Win" by DJ Khaled.

What is your favorite movie about sports & why?

"Remember the Titans" is my favorite movie about sports because it shows a true story about team bonding and overcoming obstacles.

If you were stranded on an island, which one of your teammates would you want with you & why?

I would pick Seth because he would the most positive while stranded on an island.

What would you eat for your last meal?

Steak and ribs.

What is one thing you do to prepare for a game, match, or meet?

I tie my shoes.

If you could have one super power, what would it be & why?

I would want super speed so I could run around the world.

What is your dream occupation & why?

My dream job is an electrical engineer because I have an interest in it and it is what I am studying.
