NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil men's soccer picked up its third victory of 2022, defeating the Manor Blue Jays of the USCAA 2-1 saturday afternoon. Manor was ranked No. 7 in the USCAA DI poll coming in to the contest.
A free kick goal by Dariel Palafox put the Seahawks up 1-0 just two minutes into the contest. Cecil continued to press Manor and were eventually rewarded with an 18th minute penalty kick after a handball in the box. Akeil John stepped up and fired a shot past the Blue Jays' goalie for a 2-0 lead in favor of the Seahawks.
Manor managed to pull back within a goal in the 20th minute after a throw in by the Blue Jays was headed into the Seahawks net via a Cecil defender. Both teams had their chances over the final 70 minutes, but Cecil's defense held strong and secured the 2-1 win.
The Seahawks improve to 3-10-1 on the year.
