Men's Soccer Ends Season With Loss to Essex

Cecil College men's soccer dropped their season-ending competition to the Knights of CCBC Essex on Tuesday at Calvert Regional Park. The Seahawks have now dropped their last twelve games of the season to finish 2-14 overall and tied for last in MD JUCO competition with a conference record of 2-10. Cecil College finished eleventh out of thirteen programs in the conference. The Seahawks two wins this season came on September 5 against Allegany College of Maryland and a forfetiure at Hagerstown.

The Seahawks were able to register six shots with four on goal throughout 90 minutes of play, compared to the Knights' 35 shots with 18 on goal. Seahawks players Jose Rivera, Justin Gutierrez, Jacob Smith, and Andrew Crouse were able to tally the Seahawks only shots on goal. Cecil College goalkeeper Kevin Makach was able to make ten saves from Essex's 18 shots on goal in his fifth career game as a keeper. Makach has come up with 64 saves in his five-game span as the Seahawks' goalkeeper

Although scores may not have shown their progress, Cecil College men's soccer has made great strides since the beginning of the season. The Seahawks were able to increase their total shots taken, shots on goal percentage, and number of corner kicks since their first competition on August 23.

Freshman midfielder John Savage led the Seahawks statistically this season with four goals and one assist for a total of nine points in 15 games played. Sophomore co-captian Jacob Smith registered one goal on the year and Cecil's only other assist. Other Seahawks that found the back of the net atleast once this season inlcuded Jarrett Bowman, Patrick Kelly, Jose Rivera, Seth Graham, and Andrew Gutierrez.
