Early Lead Slips Away from Seahawks

The Cecil College men's soccer team jumped out to an early lead against non-conference opponent Northern Viriginia Community College in Tuesday afternoon's match up. The Seahawks were able to register their sixth goal of the season less than four minutes into the contest off a header by freshman midfielder Jose Rivera, assisted by freshman forward John Savage.

Cecil College was unable to hold on to the lead for long, as the Nighthawks tallied the next eight goals before the Seahawks were able to score again with about three minutes remaining in the game. Savage beat the Nighthawks' goalkeeper one-on-one to make the score 8-2 and currently lead the team with four goals on the year.

The Nighthawks held the Seahawks to seven shots throughout the duration of the game, compared to their own 43 shots. Freshman goalkeeper Kevin Makach collected 14 saves from 22 shots on goal, giving him 41 saves in just three games played as goalkeeper.

The Seahawks fall to 1-13 overall and maintain their 1-9 conference record. Men's soccer returns to action on Thursday, October 12 at Calvert Regional Park. Kick off between the Seahawks and Fighting Owls of Harford College is set for 4:00 p.m.
