AACC Hands Seahawks First Conference Loss

The Cecil College men's soccer team was looking for their second conference win on Friday, September 9th against the Riverhawks of Anne Arundel Community College. The Seahawks entered the game on Friday coming off a 5-2 win over MD JUCO opponent Allegany College of Maryland.

Unable to keep their win streak alive, Cecil College quickly found themselves in a one-goal defecit less than one minute into the contest. The Riverhawks booted a ball from the 40-yard line past the Seahawks starting goal keeper Justin Guiterrez. Anne Arundel Community College found the back of the net one more time before the half, helping themselves to a two goal lead with 45:00 to play.

The Seahawks struggled with possession as a result of the Riverhawks' constraining defense. Sophomore Jacob Smith was the only Seahawk to record a shot, although off the mark, for the entire duration of the game.

The Riverhawks notched their final three goals within the first fifteen minutes of the second half, securing a 5-0 win over Cecil College.

The loss to Anne Arundel was the first of a five-game streak played on the road by the Seahawks. They return to action on Tuesday, September 12 at Montgomery College (MD). Kick off between the Seahawks and the Raptors is set for 4:00 p.m.
