Seahawks Begin With 2-Game Losing Streak

The Seahawks were along for the ride on Tuesday's rainy match up against the Vikings of Ocean County College. The rain poured down for the entire duration of the game, making playing conditions especially difficult for the Cecil College Seahawks at Calvert Regional Park.

The Seahawks trailed in every statistical category for 90 minutes of regulation and could not seem to regain control. The Vikings, a patient and agressive offense, opened up the scoring scene quickly, as returning player Mike Jacoby found the back of the net only 2:19 into the game. Ocean County added two more goals in less than two minutes, making the score 3-0 with over three-quarters of the game to play.

The remainder of the first half was much the same as the Vikings recorded 17 shots with five corner kicks, compared to the Seahawks one shot (by #23 Kevin Makach)  and zero corners. Seahawks' goal keeper #13 Justin Gutierrez ended the half with 9 saves as the Seahawks trailed by six goals.

Hoping that the Vikings would let off of the gas pedal, the Seahawks came out the second half looking more energized. However, the Vikings were on the board again just seven minutes into the second half, making the score 7-0. The Vikings' disruptive and unified defense, powered by sophomore Dylan Kanson, did not allow the Seahawks to fire a single shot for the remaining minutes of play.

After dominating the game, the Vikings were victorious by a score of 9-0 in their first game of the season. Goal keeper Justin Gutierrez finished the game with 13 saves in 90:00 minutes of regulation.

The Seahawks return to Calvert Regional Park on Wednesday, August 30 at 4:00 p.m. with hopes of capturing their first victory of the season. The Seahawks will face the Blue Jays of Manor College.
