Titans Trump Seahawks 5-0 in Home Opener

County College of Morris had an explosive start on Saturday's nonconference match up against Cecil College at Calvert Regional Park. In a lopsided first half, the Titans took fourteen shots, compared to the Seahawks' two, in the opening minutes of the contest. Cecil College's goal keeper Justin Guitierrez and his defense faced four shots that went high or wide and made eight saves before letting a ball in the back of the net 34:22 into the first half. Morris standout Ivan Maldonado connected with Kevin Pratt in front of the net to score the first goal of the Titans' season.

Most of the remaining minutes were played on Cecil College's defensive end. The Titans found the goal one more time before the end of the half with just under eight minutes until the break, making it 2-0 in favor of the Titans. With just 5 minutes until halftime, Seahawks freshman John Savage found himself on a break away towards the goal, shooting just wide-left, recording Cecil College's second shot of the game.

The second half was much the same, as the Titans attempted ten more shots including a penatly kick, scoring on three of them. County College of Morris notched their third goal of the game eight minutes into the second half, shortly followed by a successful penalty kick attempt making the score 4-0. Cecil College freshman Patrick Kelly sent the Seahawks third and final shot of the game high over the net with just under 25 minutes remaining in the contest.

The Titans found the net one more time before the buzzer, ending the game with a final score of 5-0. Justin Gutierrez finished the game with ten saves, after facing fifteen shots on goal. The Seahawks fall to 0-1 on the season and return home on Tuesday, August 29 vs. Ocean County College.
