Seahawks Swept in New York

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Cecil men's basketball tipped off 2024 with back-to-back games in New York. The Seahawks battled in both contests but eventually fell to both Orange County and Monroe College.

Orange County 84 - Cecil 80

The Seahawks outscored the Colts in the final 20 minutes, but couldn't overcome an 11-point first half deficit. Cecil cut Orange's lead to three with 20 second to go, but the Colts knocked down enough free throws to keep the Seahawks trailing.

Shaun Chandler chipped in 22 points and Marcus Edmond finished with 20. Edmond led the team with seven rebounds and four steals as well.

Monroe College 95 - Cecil 61

The Mustangs got their revenge for the Seahawks 2023 upset in North East, as the hosts dropped Cecil by 34 points on Sunday afternoon.

Monroe, an NJCAA Division I program, nearly doubled Cecil's made field goals (37 to 16) while also knocking down 12 threes. The Seahawks scored almost half of their points from the free throw line (25 of 61), but left another 16 points on the table in missed attempts from the charity stripe.

Goodwyn and Chandler once again led the team in scoring. The pair combined for 22 points. Luke Moore topped the Seahawks in rebounds (nine) and steals (three).
