Seahawks Drop Opener to Delaware Tech

NEWARK - Cecil's first game of its 2023-24 campaign went the wrong way, as the Seahawks fell 92-79 to Delaware Tech on the road Saturday afternoon.

A young Cecil squad saw seven freshman hit the floor for the first time in their collegiate careers. Headlining the box score were newcomers Marcus Edmond (21 points) and Jaiden Guy (17 points). Fellow frosh Jermaine Goodwyn came off the bench and stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. 

The Seahawks kept things close for most of the game and even led at certain points. Delaware Tech found seperation at the free throw line, making 23 of 27 attempts compared to the Seahawks 10-for-18 mark. The home team was also slighty more effecient from the floor, knocking down two more three-pointers than the Seahawks.

Cecil falls to 0-1 on the season after the loss.
