Seahawks Sink Lakers, 93-57

NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil men's basketball turned in a complete performance Wednesday night, highlighted by a 57-point second half which resulted in a 93-57 triumph over the Garrett Lakers.

The Seahawks defense dominated the first half, limiting Garrett to just three points in the final 10 minutes of the first and 18 for the half. Cecil's offense picked up the pace in the second, running away from the Lakers with a 66% shooting mark from the floor.

Sophomore guard Vernon Simmons led all scorers with 23 points, while Frank Toney finished one rebound and three assists shy of a triple-double. Jordan Strickland led the bench with 12 points.

Cecil improves to 11-8 (3-1 Region 20) on the season.

Turning Point

Garrett tied the game 15-15 midway through the first half, but the Seahawks flooded the Lakers with a 10-0 run to snatch the lead. Cecil then closed out the half on an 11-3 run to lead by 18 at the break.
