Seahawks Down Delaware Tech, 88-82

NORTH EAST, Md. - In its first home game of 2023, Cecil men's basketball claimed an 88-82 victory over Delaware Tech on Wednesday evening.

Dominick Carrington led the Seahawks in scoring with 17 points, while Vernon Simmons and Jordan Strickland recorded double-doubles. Marlon Lewis led the reserves with 15 points.

The glass was dominated by Cecil, who ripped down 15 more rebounds than Delaware Tech. The Seahawks also knocked down a season-best 83% of their free throw attempts.

Cecil improves to 10-7 on the year.

Turning Point

Frank Toney's steal off of a Delaware Tech inbound forced the visitors to foul the sophomore guard with 15 seconds left. Toney stepped up and drilled both shots to boost Cecil's advantange to six. The Seahawks defense held strong from there and turned away a pair of Delaware Tech attempts from distance to seal the contest.
