Tribunes Edge Seahawks in OT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Cecil men's basketball dropped an 84-77 decision to the Monroe CC Tribunes in the last game of Saturday's Murph Shapiro Classic.

The Seahawks trailed by six at the break, but would outscore Monroe by the same amount in the final 20 minutes. This forced the contest into overtime, which featured perfect marks from the field (4-for-4) and the free throw line (6-for-6) by the Tribunes to give them the win.

Despite a 4-of-25 clip from three and 26 turnovers, the Tribunes managed to shoot 50% for the game. The hosts also outrebounded the Seahawks, 45-30.

Dominick Carrington led Cecil on offense, scoring 27 points. Jordan Strickland came off the bench and finished with a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds).

The Seahawks fall to 0-3 with the loss.

Turning Point

Dominick Carrington's jumper with seconds left in the second half tied the game and forced an extra five minutes to be played. A back-and-forth overtime period left Cecil trailing by just two points with 23 seconds left, forcing the Seahawks to foul in order to stop the clock. Monroe went on to make all five of its free throws in the final seconds, while the Tribunes defense held Cecil scoreless for the remainder of the contest.
