Seahawks Look to Bounce Back Against #4 Chesapeake Despite Second Loss to Bears

The Cecil College men's basketball suffered their second loss of the season on Wednesday after losing to Harcum College in a close battle by a final score of 90-88. The Seahawks' only two losses this season have both come from the Bears.

The Seahawks held a two-point lead going into half but fell short in the second half to lose by that same margin. This loss snapped the 18-game win streak that the Seahawks started on Tuesday, November 23.

The Bears were led by Tre Dinkins with 28 points and three of each rebounds and assists. Derrius Ward added 17 points and six assists in the win.

Sophomore forward Khalid Gates, a steady scorer and rebounder for the Seahawks, had a huge double–double for the Seahawks with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Perren Gyan recorded 20 points and five rebounds while sophomore guard Darell Johnson also added a double–double for the Seahawks with 12 points and 10 assists.

The #6-ranked Cecil College men's basketball team looks to bounce back into the win columb when they host #4 Chesapeake College on Saturday, February 19th. At stake in this match-up among two nationally ranked teams is first place in the NJCAA Region XX DII standings. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. in North East, Md.
