Seahawks Split in Home Mixer with Del Tech and Harcum College

The Cecil College men's basketball earned their second win of the season Saturday defeating Delaware Technical Community College 113-74. The Seahawks went into halftime with a commanding 59-30 lead and kept their foot down on the Hawks in the second half for the win.

Del Tech was led by Jared McGarrity who had a team high 18 points which included 4 3's. Rashaan Butler added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the Hawks.

Freshman guard Dominick Carrington led the scoring for the Seahawks with 20 points while going 4-5 from three-point range. Sophomore guard Darell Johnson contributed in a huge way for the Seahawks in the game by adding 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Sophomore forward Khalid Gates added 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in the game for Cecil College.

On Sunday, the Seahawks suffered their first loss of the season Sunday against the Bears of Harcum College by a score of 82-107. The Seahawks were down by 18 points going into halftime and could not cut into the deficit in the second half.

The Bears were led by Yazid Powell with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists in the game. Louis Bleechmore added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Amarhie Simpkins added 21 points off the bench for the Bears.

Freshman forward Jacob Valeus had a team high 18 points for the Seahawks while adding 4 rebounds. Sophomore guard Darell Johnson came one rebound away from a double-double but finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman guard Dominick Carrington added 10 points and 2 steals for Cecil College.

Cecil College men's basketball looks to get back into the win column when they welcome Allegany College of Maryland on Tuesday, November 23. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
