Seahawks Handed Back-To-Back Losses at Monroe's Murph Shapiro Tournament

The Cecil College men's basketball team was handed back-to-back losses from the Tribunes of Monroe Community College and the Generals of SUNY Sullivan at Monroe's annual Murph Shapiro Tournament. The Seahawks fall to 2-3 on the year, with both losses coming from unranked opponents.

Their first match up of the weekend against the Tribunes lasted nearly two hours, after 75 personal fouls were called and a combined 103 free throws were shot throughout. Cecil recorded the game's first six points from a successful free throw by Jacob Falko and a lay-up and three point shot from George Davey. After leading by as many as 10 points at the 12:40 mark of the first half, the Seahawks trailed 48-52 at the halftime break and we never able to regain the lead for a final score of 78-97.

Sophomore guard Jacob Falko led offensively with 23 points followed by O'Dell Dickerson who tallied 20 points and seven rebounds. George Davey had a career-high 12 points, six rebounds, and one assist while Justin Cohen added another 10 points.

The Seahawks were handed their second loss in two days by the Generals of SUNY Sullivan after, once again, letting a double-digit lead slip away. Cecil led by as many as 13 with 16:19 left in the second half, but found themsevles trailing 82-89 as time expired.

For the fourth time in five games, Falko tallied 20+ points, and a new season-high of 26 points, six rebounds, five assts, and two steals against the Generals. Falko is currently averaging 21.6 points per game through five games. Justin Cohen added twelve points and 9 rebounds followed by a combined 25 points from reserves McKale Williams, O'Dell Dickerson, and Julius Cobb.

The Seahawks return to action on Thursday, November 14 in their home opener versus Mercer County Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. or immediately following the women's game at 5:00 p.m.
