Undefeated Catamounts Slip Past Seahawks

The Catamounts of Potomac State College of WVU kept their perfect start to the season alive after narrowly defeating Cecil College on the Seahawks' home court. The Seahawks have now lost their last five matches and fall to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

The Catamounts and Seahawks experienced five different lead changes and six different ties through out the contest. The Seahawks' only and largest lead, by a three-point margin, came just 0:27 into the match off a made lay-up and foul shot by sophomore forward Carl Bradley, compared to the Catamounts' largest lead of 17-points. Cecil College fell short after trailing closely behind Potomac State for most the contest.

Freshman guard Jacob Falko led the Seahawks in scoring with 24 points, while 20 of them came from the second half. Falko went 6-11 from the floor, including 3-4 from beyond the arc, as well as 5-7 from the free throw line in the last 20 minutes of action. He also added three assists and two steals. Cornell Corbin followed with 14 points, 3 assists, two steals, and one block of his own.

Members of the Seahawks bench tallied and impressive 40 total points, compared to the Catamounts' bench only scoring 16 of their own. Darell Johnson came off the bench for the Seahawks and added 10 points and 8 rebounds, followed by 17 combined points from Montaze Jefferson and Shylier Ringgold.

Four of the Seahawks' last five losses have been my margins of 6 points or less. They will look to bounce back and pick up their first conference victory when they travel to face the Cougars of Frederick Community College on Wednesday, December 5. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
