Seahawks Drop Fourth Straight to Allegany

Cecil College men's basketball suffered their fourth straight loss on Wednesday against MD JUCO rival Allegany College of Maryland. The Seahawks fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in MD JUCO standings. The Seahawks are among four teams including Hagerstown Community College, CCBC Dundalk, and Howard Community College that are winless in the conference through the month of November.

After giving up an alley-oop dunk in the first 30-seconds of action, sophomore forward Carl Bradley was the first to put the Seahawks on the scoreboard, off an offensive rebound of his own missed lay up. Then, Cecil College and the Trojans traded three-pointers to tie the match at five in the opening two and a half minutes of play. Each team went on runs of their own in the remaining minutes of the first half, including one for Cecil sparked by an enormous dunk from Jacob Falko. The two teams traded leads, but the Seahawks headed to the locker room with a 46-45 lead after sophomore guard Cornell Corbin drained a buzzer beater from beyond the arc with 0:03 left until halftime.

Darrell Jenkins opened up scoring for the Seahawks in the second half with a made jumper, followed by a pair of made lay ups and free throws from Khalid Gates and a three-pointer from Jacob Falko, to give the Seahawks their largest lead of seven at the 15:12 mark in the second half. The Trojans were quick to counter and found themselves tied at 61 in under four minutes of play. Cecil College was forced to foul in the remaining minutes of the contest, their lead slipped away, and found themselves down 92-88 as time expired.

Jacob Falko lead the Seahawks with 18 points, followed by Cornell Corbin with 15 points including going three for six from beyond the arc. Darrell Jenkins and Shylier Ringgold, each with double-digit points, combined for 26 points. Freshman guard Montaze Jefferson dished out five assists while George Davey added four points, four rebounds, two steals, and two assists.

Cecil College men's basketball looks to snap their four-game losing streak when they host the Catamounts of Potomac State College of WVU, an NJCAA Region XX DII rival, on Saturday, December 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
